Description

A detailed bronze sculpture, about 15-20 cm tall, depicting the anthropomorphic goat wearing his signature carpenter's apron. He holds a trade sign in one hand and a tool in the other, looking into the distance with a worried yet proud expression.

Story

The statue appeared in the summer of 2018. Mekk Elek is the main character of a classic 1970s Hungarian puppet show who tries his hand at every trade but ruins them all. Shortly after its installation, a local resident placed a tiny knitted scarf around his neck to keep him warm in winter, starting a heartwarming tradition for Budapest's mini statues.

Fun facts

  • The sign held by the character originally featured a faded inscription reading 'Moszkva tér' (Moscow Square), a subtle nod to the historic former name of the location. Despite his fictional failures, this little goat has become a massive hit among urban explorers.
